I have over 47 years of running business in the private sector, and I plan on running NLV efficiently, ethically, and transparently and to run it for the benefit of the taxpayers. The biggest problem in NLV is that for all practicality, the taxpayers of NLV have no one representing them. The mayor and the four council members have all taken money from the police and fireman unions, and the teamsters. They have also taken money from special interest groups like like the big builders. The current regime is not operating in the best interests of the tax payers, instead they are pandering to the Unions and Special Interests groups.
Education: Masters degree in public administration. A minor in business and urban development, and political science. A minimum of 10 years as a City Manager of another City. EXPERTISE: Budgeting, Strong communication skills, and Negotiation Skills.
Part of his job will be reaching out to the community and talking to concerned citizens. He or She will also keep a short eye on elected officials to make sure they are not doing anything illegal or unethical.
The city manager and I will evaluate each department to make sure that each department is running efficiently and ethically. WHAT I EXPECT TO FIND OUT.
I’m betting that a large number of employees are “spin doctors” people who cover up corruption and wasteful spending. Since I’m going to run a transparent government, I do not need to cover up what I’m doing. This could save Tax Payers a lot of money. I expect that in some cases, outsourcing might be better for the city, then hiring more and more full-time employees.
Begin negotiating with the Unions about salaries and benefits going forward. North Las Vegas can not pay money the City doesn’t not have. And we can not continue paying excessive, and unsustainable, costs, and we will not cut City services or shut down Community Centers to accommodate unreasonable people.
I will make the Mayors seat and city council full time job. Council member will have definite office hours so their constuants will have no problems in getting through to the council members that represent them.
